Where did you get your degree? IU, Jacobs School of Music. I also have a masters in theology focusing on hymnody.
How many years have you been in education? 20 years
What are you looking forward to in the new school year? Teaching MS/HS students again.
Why did you want to come to Salem? I lived here for 14 years when I taught at Pekin for 14 years.
How do you think music benefits students in a classroom setting? Music is a whole brain activity improving cognitive brain function, it allows students emotional connection and builds team skills Students learn to be comfortable in performing in a public setting and best of all, it’s fun.
What are your plans to help grow the music program at SCS? Enthusiasm is contagious. In addition, a school-wide auditioned show where students can show off their talents and connect with the music department.
Anything you'd like the community to know about you? I once owned a jazz club in southern Indiana, I have 4 boys and my last is beginning college. My father was a minister and I have played for church since I was seven years old. I currently play organ at St Peters Lutheran in Brownstown.
