Salem High School will be hosting its annual prom next month. It will take place on Saturday, April 22. For the first time in years prom will be held in a new location. Instead of the traditional Huber’s Orchard and Winery, it will now take place in town at Cornerstone Hall.
Ticket prices are $40 for seniors, $45 for juniors, $50 for sophomores and invited people who do not go to SHS. Sophomores will only be allowed to attend prom if they are invited by a senior or junior. Meals will be catered by B&R Catering and Soundsational DJ services will provide the music.
Prom tickets sales will start the week before spring break and they will sell until Friday April 7th. The theme for this year's prom will be “A night under the stars.''
Prom sponsor and junior English teacher Kim Brewer said the reason for the location shift was because Huber’s had a decent price increase on tickets for juniors, which made them the most expensive they have ever been. Now tickets for juniors will be $45, rather than $70-$75, which she is hoping will encourage younger class members to attend prom this year.
When asked what they are looking forward to about their last prom senior Kady Schocke said, “I get to spend time with my friends and make it a good time cause it will be our last prom.”
Senior Jenna Gilbert said, “I am ready to be there and boogie with my friends!”
