Mrs. Andrea Pitcock

Andrea Pitcock, who is a 1992 graduate of Salem High School, is the freshman and sophomore counselor.

She started her teaching career at West Washington right out of college.

“I've worked at West Washington as a teacher and counselor, East Washington Middle School as a counselor, and currently, at Salem as a counselor,” she said. “I've been at BSE, SMS and now SHS!”

This is her first year at the high school.

“I decided to apply for a Salem position, to come back to my alma mater, during the 2020-21 school year – right in the middle of the pandemic!” said Pitcock. “I have loved my time at all of the schools I've had the opportunity to work at, but when the opening became available here at the high school, I decided to apply. I was excited about being able to help students with their futures, and focus more on the career and academic side of counseling!”

As the 9th and 10th grade counselor, she helps students transition to high school, and helps them discover interests and abilities that will help them in their future endeavors.

“I help with scheduling, goal-setting and planning, and I help students navigate social and emotional needs, as well,” she said.

Pitcock really enjoys supporting students and helping them plan for their futures.

“One of the things I love best about my job is seeing students experience success after working with them, and helping to remove obstacles that have been standing in their way of success,” she said.

“I feel like my career has come full-circle, and I feel at home at Salem! I had a great experience here as a student, and it has been nice to be working and supporting students in the community in which I received a quality education!”

Pitcock and her husband, Kori, have been married for 24 years, and have a son, Turner, and a border collie named Gracie.

“We are avid IU and Colts fans, and we enjoy spending time with family, sporting events, and the outdoors,” she said. “We enjoy boating in the summer, and visiting the Smoky Mountains in the fall.”
